"Europa ha perdido muchas medallas"

Acapulco, Guerrero .- Patrick Hickey, presidente de los comités olímpicos europeos, expresó a su arribo a este paradisíaco puerto, que esta cumbre es muy importante para el movimiento olímpico, pues además de los trabajos que se realizarán en la Asamblea de ODEPA, se llevará a cabo la reunión de la comisión de Solidaridad Olímpica, lo que permitirá alcanzar acuerdos importantes entre ciudades.
Respecto a las presentaciones de las candidaturas de sede para los Juegos Olímpicos de 2016, Hickey aseguró que todas están haciendo un excelente trabajo, tratando de proyectar su imagen de la mejor manera posible, por lo que cualquiera de ellas podría ser la encargada.
Respecto a la participación de los atletas europeos en los pasados Juegos Olímpicos de Beijing, aseguró que fue maravillosa, aunque como señaló, fue la primera vez que Europa deja ir medallas, por lo que los CON's europeos realizarán un seminario técnico la semana entrante, en Chipre, para discutir los aspectos técnicos de los Juegos.
"Por primera vez, Europa ha perdido muchas medallas... Es fantástico ver cómo las medallas se reparten entre todos los continentes, pero debemos prestar atención y analizar qué es lo que pasó ahí".
No obstante, recalcó que una de las bondades de los deportes olímpicos, es que puedes "analizar tus errores y dificultades, y mejorar tus resultados" en las ocasiones subsecuentes.

Patrick Hickey, president of European Committees, arrived to this beautiful port to take part in the gathering and he said this summit is very important to Olympic movement because, furthermore the General Assembly of PASO, the meeting of Olympic Solidarity will be carried out, which will allow to reach important agreements between cities and continents.

2016, Hickey assured that all cities are doing an excellent job, trying to project his image in the best possible way, therefore, he considered that
any of them could be named the winner, next October the 2nd 2009.
Concerning to the participation of European athletes in the past Olympic
Games, at Beijing, he stated that it was fantastic, although he remind
that that was the first time ever that Europe lost medals, therefore Olympic
Committees of Europe will accomplish a technical seminary, next week in
Cyprus, to discuss technical aspects of those Games.
"For the first time ever, Europe has lost a lot of medals and it's fantastic to see how the medals are distributed among the other continents, but we have to wake up, pay attention and analyze what is what happened there".
Nonetheless, he said that one of the greatest things of Olympic sports is
that you can "analyze your mistakes or weaknesses, and improve your results" in subsequent times.
